An ensemble of twelve singers, the Jerusalem Vocal Consort enriches the choral landscape in Israel by showcasing music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. It is the only vocal ensemble in Israel dedicated to performing music from these periods.
The Consort has participated in master classes with Ensemble Vocapella Limburg (Belgium), with soprano Yeela Avital and with Dr Elam Rotem (Switzerland and Israel). Most recently, the ensemble performed in the Abu Gosh International Choral Music Festival, the Ein Kerem Festival, and in its own concerts throughout Israel. In 2022, Rachel Bachner founded the Jerusalem Vocal Consort, under the musical direction of Rachel Segman and Yael Dushy.
The Consort singers are handpicked students and graduates of Israeli music academies: Yael Dushy, Rachel Segman, Rotem Kidron, Lee Schwarz, Rachel Bachner, Tamar Arnon, Elchanan Elfenbaum, Kristina Chuharev-Geldman, Matthew Anisfeld, Zachary Shuster, Gilad Petranker, Tsachi Samira and Dmitrii Negrimovskii.
In 2024, the Consort will take part in several projects, including collaborations with two Baroque instrumental ensembles: Ensemble Mezzo and the Nari Baroque Ensemble. It will also represent Israel at the Georgian Vocal Music Festival.
